Some names were provided by Virginia Cornett Smith's records.

28 Mar 1833 -- Hugh S. Neely & Jane Bridges were married in Washington County, by R. M. Shankland. Robert M. Shankland was an early figure in the East TN Cooperation of the Christian Church. He was present at the earliest of these meetings for which there is any record. It took place at Boones Creek Meeting House, 17 Aug 1829 and was attended by other elders including Jeriel Dodge. It was agreed at adjourment that they would meet again the following August at the North Fork Church in Washington County. As Shankland is a minister in the marriage records of the county for the first time in 1829, it seems more than probable that he is the minister of North Fork Christian Church.
