Note: Excerpt from Obituary April 1914 White Cloud, Doniphan Co., Kansas Mrs. Sarah Williams -- Mrs. Sarah Williams departed this life at 9 P.M., Sunday after a critical illness of more than two months. She had been living alone for more than a year and when sickness came upon her it became necessary to have some one with her so a nurse was employed, soon one was not able to do all and for the past three weeks two ladies were employed, both of whom were faithful workers and both were at the bedside at the end. Sarah Swains Ball was born July 4, 1836, in Ashtabula, Ohio, died at her home in White Cloud, April 4, 1914, aged 77 years, 9 months and 1 day. Her parents long since departed were Amos Ball, Sr., born in Woodbury, VT., January 3, 1811 and Fanny Swains, born in Marshfield, VT., December 13, 1806. Was married on December 19, 1857 at Massillon, Iowa, to Charles Williams, who departed this life some 30 years ago. To this union four children were born, one only survives, Milo Williams, formerly of White Cloud, but who for more than a year has been on a "claim" near Tippett, Nebraska. She leaves several grandchildren, also a half brother and sister, Alphas Ball and Mrs. Alice Lutton, both living near Sparks, Kansas. For a number of years Mrs. Williams and her family lived near Iowa Point, Kansas, later moving to White Cloud and she leaves many friends at both places, who have displayed their friendship durning her last illness. She united with the Christian church at Iowa Point about 35 years ago and was faithful in her convictions to the end. The funeral services were conducted by the Christian minister from Highland, Rev. Ellsworth Day, who conducted a short service at the home at 12 o'clock on Tuesday, after which the remains were taken to the church at Iowa Point, where the funeral sermon was preached and the body was laid to rest beside that of her husband in the Iowa Point Cemetery.
