Amos and family left Iowa and moved to Oregon between September 1882 and Spring of 1885, as son James married Mary Alberta Beall in October 1885, in Polk Co., Oregon.
Amos was known as Allen. In 1898, Allen suffered from, what was considered a ear infection, but would not go see the doctor. After suffering for some time, he collapsed, the family put him on the wagon and took him to the doctor, where he died.
