Birthplace given as Clay Co., MO in Karen Finley's record which is in correct acccording to Lydia's own Mother's handwritten li sting, "Clea r Springs Cedar Co. Mo where you were borned Lydia" Moved to Io wa in 1874 w/parents. Married George Krebs and lived in LaPorte City, IA. Ji m Lockhart reports that Gramma Lydia received mo ney from her father's estate and moved to Sabin, MN in 1903. Supposed ly Grampa George had a job in Fargo , ND. Moved to Maplewood near Pel ican Rapids, MN in 1909 where they farmed until 1931. Worked in sewing shop in Kalamazoo, MI at one time as a young girl . [Can't say where this information came from, but will leave it her e un til repudiated or substantiated--sac.] Was seamstress in LaPort e City, IA. Minn: __ Jan 1951: Mrs. Lydia Krebs Dies I n Iowa; Funeral Held Here Mrs. Lydia Krebs, a resident of the Pelican Rapids c ommunity for f orty years, passed away Jan. 11th at the home of her son, Mart in Kreb s, at Waverly, Iowa, where she was visiting. Lydia A. Krebs was th e eldest daughter of Margaret and Andrew Boyer. She was born in Ceda r County , Missouri Jan. 31, 1873. In 1874 her parents moved to Iow a where she gre w to womanhood. March 25, 1896 she was united in marriae to George Krebs of La Port e City, Iowa. They moved to Sabin, Minn. in 1903. They came to Peli ca n Rapids in 1909, where they farmed until 1931. To this union 8 children wer e born: Arthur, Mrs. Louis Berg (Lenor a), Mrs. Donald Peck (Frances), Mrs. F rancis Nelson (Erna) all of Pel ican Rapids; Mrs. Ernest Bice (Genevive) of W aubun; Martin of Waverly , Iowa; Mrs. Julius Hushagen (Alice) of Waterloo, IA , and Mrs. Richar d Dankert (Marguerite) of Austin, Minn; 3 sisters, Mary Sec rest of Wa terloo, Ia.; Mae Roster of Jesup, Ia.; Mrs. W. H. Harris [Ida] of Lo s Angeles, Calif.; 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, niece s an d mephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. On Dec. 20 s he suffered a slight stroke and fell, breaking her col lar bone at the home o f her son at Waverly, Ia. She seemed to be rec overing until Jan. 9 when she had a severe heart attack and had to b e hospitalized. The children were ca lled to her bedside and all wit h the exception of Arthur saw her before she passed away Jan. 11 at t he age of 77 years, 11 mo. and 10 days. She led a v ery active and useful life not being ill until this sho rt time ago. Memoria l services were held at the Cleveland Chapel at Waverly, Ia . Jan. 13 by the Rev. Glenn McMichael, as she had been baptized and r eared a Methodist. Many relatives from Iowa attended this service . The body was then brought by am bulance to Pelican Rapids, where se rvices were conducted by Rev. Shelby at t he Congregational church. M rs. T. O. Tabbut rendered two vocal solos, "The Old Rugged Cross" an d "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", accompanied by Margot S toffel. Pallbearers were: Mr. Sherman, Mr. Peck, Sr., Sylvester Plummer, G e orge and John Femling and Roy Goeke. Interment was made beside he r husband at the Lake View cemetery. The Scambler Ladies' Aid, of which she used to be a member, serve d lunch in the Followship Center.
