    The London parishes database maintained by Ancestry shows that Richard, 'of Tonbridge in the County of Kent' married Mary Ring, spinster, at Marylebone in London on 10 February 1820.

    It is possible that Richard's wife, Mary Ring, died in early 1830 for the list of baptisms for the Wesleyan Church at Tunbridge Wells show a Sophia Whitlock Hickmott was christened there on 10 June 1832. She was born on 5 August 1831 and her parents were Richard and Ann Hickmott.
