    The 1841 census shows a John (35) and Ann Marsh (35) living in the Lamberhurst village. Also present were their children William (15), Richard (15), Edward (11), Ann (7), Caroline (4) and Isaac (1) where all were born in the county. Next door was a Charles Tolhurst (65, farrier) and his two sons Charles and Stephen. Next door to him was a Henry (65) and Mary Tolhurst (60) and their two children Charles (35) and Margaret (25).

    The 1851 census shows John (49) and Ann (49) on the High Street Lamberhurst with their children Richard (26), Anne (18), Caroline (13), Isaac (11), Hannah (5) and Ruth Eliza (10m). All were born at Lamberhurst. The 1861 census has John (59) and Ann (58) and Hannah (14) still living on High Street in Lamberhurst.
