Elizabeth's death certificate states that she was born at Llanidloes in Wales. The LDS IGI shows that an Elizabeth Evans was baptised there on 14 February 1818. Her parents were James and Hannah Evans nee Lewis who had been married at Llanidloes on 29 January 1808 and had at least six other children: John (baptised in 1813), Hannah (1815), Mary (1820), Sarah (1822), Jane (1824) and Ann (1826).

Elizabeth's death certificate indicates that she died at Kingower in Victoria of senile debility and epilepsy on 21 June 1893 and was buried in the Presbyterian section of the Kingower cemetery two days later. She was aged 76 years and eighteen weeks. The burial was conducted by the Reverend Lewis W. Benison and was witnessed by Miles Whitlock and Edward James Owen (Elizabeth's eldest son).

The certificate further indicates that she was born at Llanidloes in North Wales (some 10 miles inland from Aberystwith). Her parents were said to be James Evans, a farmer, and Elizabeth Ann Evans (maiden name was unknown). This contrasts with the LDS entry described above. Elizabeth's death certificate further indicates that she had married Edward Owen at Liverpool in England when she was 31 years old and had four children: Edward James (then 40 years old), Elizabeth Ann (38), John Richard (36) and William Robert (35?). At the time of her death, Elizabeth was said to have been 41 years in Victoria.
