    Bio
Eddie Plank's 326 victories rank third-most all-time among lefties behind Warren Spahn and Steve Carlton, and he posted more shutouts and completed more games than any other left-hander. A finesse pitcher with a sidearm sweeping curveball, Plank never played baseball before prep school and joined the Athletics after graduating from Gettysburg College in 1901. He pitched in the majors for 17 seasons, winning 20 games eight times and helping the A's to six pennants in the new American League.

    Quote
"Plank was not the fastest, not the trickiest, and not the possessor of the most stuff; but he was just the greatest."
    — Eddie Collins

EDDIE PLANK ESTATE VALUED AT $50,000

The will of Eddie Plank, former left handed pitching ace of the Philiadelphia Atheltics, disposing of an estate valued at $50,000, was filed for probate at Gettysburg Tuesday. Plank died February 24. Letters of administration were given to the pitcher's widow, Anna C. Plank, who was named executix after Eddie's father, David L. Plank, had renouced the executorship, to which he was appointed by tearms of the document.

To his parents Plank left $10,000 and the farm on which they reside near Gettyburg. Upon their deaths the property is to be sold and the proceeds of all real estate and personal property divided equally amoung Eddie's three brothers and two sisters.

To the widow is left $20,000 in trust as long as she remains unmarried. Should she remarry or die the money is to go to Eddie's son, Eddie Jr., ten years old. The will was written February 18, 1915, shortly after the marriage of Plank and Anna C. Myers, of New Oxford. Personal property is valued at $30,000 and real estate at $20,000.

Since the will was written , the Plank homestead of 142 acres in Straban township, mentioned in the document, has been disposed of, and Mr. and Mrs. David L. Plank, the parents, reside on a small farm of 25 acres, near Gettysburg."
