BIOGRAPHY: By tradition James Parker had 22 children. The names of the other 4 are not know; they presumably died young. One source said that he was married twice and the first 6 children were by the first wife, however, the birth dates are after their date of his (second?) marriage. James Parker, his son James Parker, Jr. and three other couples organized the Little Horse Creek Church in 1833. Annals of Effingham County Records: James Parker, Jr., Thomas Parker and John Parker are direct ancestors of John Wesley Parker (1878-1948) and Carrie Freeman (1885-1963) ?

James Parker Sr was born in N.C. between 1780 and 1790. Pers were in the Midway area as early as 1756. 1794 Levi and Hubbard Parker. Land records between 1799 and 1815 shows that Gabriel, Eli, and Caleb Parker was living in the county so these would most probably be the families to check backwards for. Elizabeth Sasser married James Parker Sr. She died in 1850. She was born probably between 1790 and 1800. Her will was dated Jan 24, 1848 and left all of her estate to her two youngest children: Henry & Betty Parker which probably meant that the older children of James Parker Sr were not her own. Should they die young the items should go to Hardy C Parker and daughters clarisy Waters, Eliza Kea, Gemima Newton, Tabitha Griner, Mary Ann Lee and Jane griner. This will was recorded Nov 15, 1848 so it is assumed that her death was near that time.
James Parker Sr., home had a red clay floor and stood for many years after he had died. James Parker Sr. lost 3 children after his death and before his will was probated.
