Note: Mary's birth father was Adam Sherman, but after he died his parents took all the children except Mary, because she had broken her hip and was useless for work. Mary and her mother, Massa Dailey, who was full-blooded Cherokee (Native-American), were kicked out of the clan, and Massa eventually re-married to John W. "Chucklebum" Bumgardner, and had 4 more kids. Mary was raised by the Bumgardners, although her real father was Adam Sherman and adopted the name Bumgardner. She was most likely one of the last children born from Massa and Adam's marriage.
