Exhibitions in Heilbronn, Germany and Washington, DC in 2005-2006 explored the work of architect Adolf Cluss (1825-1905). Many themes in German-American history are reflected in the genealogies of the Cluss family and of his wife's family, the Schmidts. For more information about the Cluss exhibitions, and Cluss's work as an architect and engineer in Washington, DC, and his early years as a member of the Communist League and a friend of Karl Marx, see www.adolf-cluss.org.
