He married Frances Alston Martin 27 FEB 1824 in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, daughter of John Martin and Mary Kimbrough. She was born 12 MAY 1799 in Wake County, North Carolina, and died 30 JAN 1862 in Dallas County, Arkansas.     iv. John Smith was born 01 MAY 1797. He married Margaret Hayes Ward 18 DEC 1823, daughter of Benjamin Ward. She was born 1796, and died 26 DEC 1865.     v. Thomas Harrison Smith was born 15 JUN 1798, and died ABT 1849.     vi. Richard Ivy Smith was born 16 FEB 1800 in Caswell County, North Carolina, and died 28 JUL 1871 in Caswell County, North Carolina. He married Mary Amis Goodwin Smith 15 APR 1835, daughter of Maurice Smith and Frances Goodwin. She was born 09 MAY 1815 in Granville County, North Carolina, and died 02 APR 1889.     vii. Maurice Smith was born 10 JUN 1801 in North Carolina, and died 14 MAY 1871 in Dallas County, Arkansas. He married Clarissa Harlowe Reid 28 APR 1830 in Caswell County, North Carolina.
