Mrs. Ida Elizabeth Rury was born October 10th, 1870, near Nashville, Illinois, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Johnson. She departed this life May 7th, 1953 at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois, at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 27 days. Mrs. Rury was a resident of Percy for many years, and lived most of her life in southern Ill. On March 6, 1889 she was united in marriage to Amos Rury in Percy, Illinois. To this union ten children were born. She was preceeded in death by two daughters - Minnie Mae and Mrs. Bessie Thompson, and her husband. She leaves six sons, Fred of Galena, Ill., Alfred of Savannah, Ill., Dave of Elizabeth, Illinois, Oren of Galena, Ill., Elmer of Percy, Ill., and Herman of Marissa, Ill., two daughters - Mrs. Vernice Winterberg of Anna, Ill, and Mrs. Irene Woodside of Onida, Ill., 39 grand-children, and many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Rury moved to Onida, Ill. a few years ago and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Irene Woodside. She had been a patient at the Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Ill. for some time, suffering from a broken hip, from which she was unable to recover. The body was brought to the Walker Funeral Home in Percy, May 8th, and lay in state until the hour of the funeral. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church, Percy, Ill. May 9th, 1953 at 2:0 P.M. Dev. Chas Simonds, pastor of the church, officiated. The lovely floral offerings were cared for by members of the "Karion Class".
