Note: The Bagley family came to Raw Hide Flat, NM to homestead and improved the place. The small community was called Joneta in 1926 after the mother. If they stayed on it for a year they would own it, but it didn't work out. The town was called Joneta in December 8, 1922 after Mrs. Bagley and is near Corona. In 1931 Jerome "Romey" Moseley established a general store and was appointed Postmaster. He named the place "Lon" for his son Lonnie, from a toss of the coin. I would like to secure my birth certificate which should be on record in your office. I was born March 27, 1899 at a community called Greens Creek a few miles west of Stephenville. My maiden name was Elgie Bagley.
Father name: Jame Oliver (Jim) Bagley
Mothers Maiden Name: Jo Neta Myra Mobley
I am not for sure how my mother's given name was spelled or if "Myra" was added latter. Please investigate your records to be certain about how her name was recorded. She was born at the Mobley family home about 3 miles west of Stephenville on August 25, 1877.
My mother's fathers name was Martin Mobley. Her mother was Nancy Elizabeth (Brock) Mobley. They had six sons and two daughters. Just in case it might be helpful to you in gathering information I will list them in order of their age. Jack, Lee, Oscar, John, Cordelia Frances, Jo Neta Myra (My mother), Jim and Luther Mobley...
I would like to mention here that the children of Mr. & Mrs. Lee Mobley who were all born there were my double cousins. Lee Mobley, my uncle, was County Commissioner there at one time. I relate this only because it is more recent information and might be helpful to ou in searching your records for needed information. Their children were: Joe, Mittie, Linnie, Jim, Bee, and Estelle Mobley. Their birth dates ranged from the 1890's to 1910. Thank you very much for our effort in helping me obtian my birth certificate. Very truly yours, Elgie Chaney (Mrs. P. D. Chaney)
