George Thomas Noble and Dr. Benjamin Sedgwick Noble were two children from a family of 15 who settled in Johnson County, IN in 1834. George Thomas Noble lived in the outskirts of Indianapolis before moving to Johnson county. They located in what is now Greenwood, in 1834.

Dr. Thomas Noble b. 1762 lived with his parents, his brother George, and sisters, Elizabeth and Nancy across the Potomac opposite Mt. Vernon, in Prince George's Co. Maryland.
Two of their sons were prominant in early Indiana history, James Noble was one of the first two U.S. Senators from Indiana. He served 3 terms 1816-1827. He died in Washington, DC. Governor Noah Noble was the 4th governor of Indiana. His two terms were from 1831-1837

Notes for JAMES NOBLE:
James Noble the second son of Dr. Thomas Noble, was born in Battletown, Clark Co., Virginia, Dec. 16th 1785, and d. Feb 26th 1831, in Washington, D. C. He is buried in the Congressional Cemetery.
He married Mary Lindsey, (a daughter of Thomas Lindsey Sr. and his wife Rebecca Harris), b. Aug 24th, 1783, in Ireland. They eloped and married on April 7th, 1803, in Cincinnati, O. He was at that time a Law Student, and was later admitted to the Bar, at Lawrenceburg, Ind., he removed to Brooksville, Ind., and was one of the first settlers there.
For several years he was a member of the State Legislature, and was elected to the United States Senate, at the age of Thirty, and held this position until his death, or for sixteen years.

The first United States Senator for Indiana. He was head of one of three families that controlled politics in the state for a quarter of a century. Mr. Noble was born at Battletown, Va., December 16, 1785, and reared in Kentucky; married at the age of seventeen, to Miss Lindsay, of Newport; studied law and settled at Brookville, Indiana. He especially excelled in eloquence, whether in his power to excite the sympathy of a jury and influence a verdict, or his ability to sway the multitude in a political speech. His charm of manner, heroic stature, fine features and gift of conversation, coupled with extraordinary natural abilities, made him at once a leader of men and a favorite of society. He was a member of the first Constitutional Convention, in which he rendered important service on the committees of legislation and the judiciary. He was elected to the first legislature under the Constitution, which assembled November 4, 1816. Four days later he was chosen United States Senator by the legislature, and continued to serve in the Senate until his death, at Washington, February 26, 1831. As a Whig he dared measure swords with Calhoun and the "Little Magician" of New York, or any other Democratic statesman of the time.

Notes for BENJAMIN DR. SEDGWICK 2ND NOBLE:
Dr. Ben Noble was an ardent abolitionist and one of the people who helped run the underground railroad In 1830, he served as a census taker in Indiana. In 1837, Dr. Noble was a member of the Indiana State legislature (see p. 293, A Biographical Directory of the Indiana General Assembly, Vol. 1). He was enumerated in the Johnson County, Indiana census in 1840 and 1850. He was enumerated in the 1870 census of Warren County, Iowa. Dr. Noble was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Johnson County, Indiana. On December 21, 1868, Dr. Noble signed his Will in Indianola, Warren County, Iowa.
