The following individuals and families have been associated with the colonial settlement called Dorchester located on the upper Ashley River, above Charlestown, South Carolina. The town began in 1696/97 and by 1788 had been abandoned. The site of the town is now the Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site, just outside Summerville, South Carolina, USA.
